About Jacob

I’ve always had a passion for drawing and art growing up. Before college, I painted large cartoon characters on walls for kids or windows for a friend’s business around Christmas time. In college, I originally went to study engineering, then I took an art class for fun and fell in love. I continued to take more art classes and slowly transitioned my major to art. I graduated from UC Davis with my BA in Art Studio in 2008.

After graduating, I joined service programs, the Americorp and Arizona Teaching Fellows, and helped kids with math, gardening, taking care of animals, and art lessons. I continued to create art on my own time while working. Eventually, I decided to go back to school to pursue Occupational Therapy. I graduated from A.T. Still University with my masters in Occupational Therapy in 2017. From there I worked a lot with the elderly improving their health, strength, cognition, and emotional wellbeing. I would incorporate art projects into our therapy to work on fine motor skills, cognition, and improving mood. During this time, I continued art on the side and created pet portraits for friends and family as gifts. Through word of mouth I would get commissions for more. After 9 years of working as an OT and creating lots of art on the side, I made the decision to pursue my art fully and share it.
